Dispensing

Dispensing Practice

Ardleigh Surgery is a dispensing practice which means that we can supply medication to patients who live 1.6km (as the crow flies) or more from a Pharmacy.

Patients who live less than 1.6km will need to collect their medication from a Pharmacy of their choice. The prescription can be sent electronically. Alternatively you can collect the signed paper prescription or provide us with a stamped addressed envelope.

Online Access

If you would like to order your repeat medication online.

Please collect your medication within 7 working days of order to Comply with the New Regulation-falsified medicines directive

Please note that if a Doctor during your consultation requires you to start medication immediately (eg: antibiotic) and your normal pharmacy is closed we will endeavour to dispense this item subject to availability.

Dispensary Benefits

The key benefits of dispensing with us are:

  • Medication is available usually within 20 minutes of leaving the doctor or nurse, often quicker, without the need to go elsewhere to collect it
  • There is a very close relationship between our dispensary and the doctors – queries are dealt with quickly and effectively, with minimal delay and absolute clinical safety
  • We have practical stock of medication and if something is out of stock, then a substitute can often be offered safely and quickly or the drug can be ordered for pick up by 18:00 the next day. Please select Primary Care Centre PCC.

All patients can choose whether they use the dispensary or a local pharmacy, but we encourage you to sign up as a dispensing patient, to give you the greatest flexibility. You are not eligible for dispensary if you live within 1 mile as the crow flies from a community pharmacy.

The dispensary provides funding that enables us to provide a wide range of high quality services and your support is greatly appreciated.
